## Geographic Distribution

Geographic Distribution refers to the physical location of the nodes that comprise a blockchain network. A well-distributed network is more resilient to regional internet outages, censorship, and natural disasters.

For financial protocols, geographic diversity is also important for reducing network latency, as nodes closer to the majority of traders can provide faster updates. However, extreme distribution can also increase propagation delay due to the physical distance that data must travel.
