Genesis Block
The Genesis Block is the very first block in a blockchain, serving as the immutable starting point for the entire ledger. It is hardcoded into the software of the network and contains the initial state, including token distributions and protocol rules.
Unlike subsequent blocks, the Genesis Block does not have a predecessor, making it the unique root of the chain. It often contains a message or a timestamp that anchors the network to a specific point in time or a historical event.
In financial terms, it defines the total supply of assets and the initial allocation to developers, investors, or the community. This block is essential for new nodes to verify the authenticity of the chain as they sync with the network.
Because it is the foundation, any error in the Genesis Block would render the entire subsequent chain invalid. It is the definitive reference point for all transactions that follow.
It establishes the baseline for the network's economic and security architecture.
