## Gamma Risk Profiling

Gamma risk profiling is the practice of monitoring how an option's Delta changes in response to fluctuations in the underlying asset price. Because Gamma measures the rate of change of Delta, it indicates how much a position's directional exposure will shift during a price move.

High Gamma environments, often found near the money and close to expiration, create significant challenges for hedging. A trader with a high Gamma profile must frequently adjust their hedge to remain Delta neutral, a process known as dynamic hedging.

In crypto markets, sudden price swings can cause Gamma to spike, leading to massive hedging requirements that can exacerbate market volatility. Effective profiling allows traders to manage this convexity risk and avoid unintended directional exposure.
