Fundamental Utility
Fundamental utility is the practical, real-world use case or value that a blockchain protocol provides to its users. This could include decentralized finance, cross-border payments, decentralized storage, or identity verification.
A project with high fundamental utility is more likely to survive market downturns and achieve long-term success. Investors assess utility by looking at user adoption, transaction volume, and the complexity of the problems the protocol solves.
If a project does not offer a clear utility beyond speculative trading, its long-term value is highly uncertain. Fundamental utility is the anchor that prevents a project from becoming entirely decoupled from its price.
It is the most important factor in distinguishing between durable innovations and short-lived trends in the crypto space.
