## Exercise Price

The exercise price, commonly known as the strike price, is the fixed price at which the owner of an option can buy or sell the underlying asset upon exercise. It is a fundamental term of the contract that is set at the time of creation and remains constant throughout the life of the option.

The choice of strike price is the primary driver of an option moneyness and its potential payoff. Traders choose strike prices based on their outlook for the asset price and their desired level of risk.

A strike price closer to the current asset price typically carries more extrinsic value and higher delta. Once an option is exercised, the transaction is settled at this predetermined price, regardless of the current market value of the asset.

It acts as the anchor for the contract payoff structure and is essential for evaluating the viability of an option position.
