Exchange Outflow Metrics
Exchange outflow metrics track the volume of digital assets being withdrawn from centralized exchange wallets into private, non-custodial wallets. A spike in outflows is often interpreted as a bullish signal, suggesting that large holders are moving assets off exchanges for long-term storage rather than immediate sale.
This reduces the circulating supply available on exchanges, which can create a supply-side squeeze if demand remains constant or increases. Analysts use these metrics to identify phases of accumulation where market participants are taking assets out of the reach of active traders.
Conversely, consistent inflows to exchanges are often viewed as a precursor to distribution or increased sell-side pressure. These metrics are fundamental to understanding the supply-demand dynamics of major cryptocurrencies.
