## Deterministic Wallet

A deterministic wallet is a type of wallet where all keys are derived from a single master seed or root key. This structure simplifies backup and recovery, as the user only needs to secure one seed phrase to restore all associated addresses and funds.

Hierarchical deterministic wallets, often referred to as HD wallets, allow for the generation of a tree of keys from this master seed. This is the standard for modern cryptocurrency wallets, enabling better organization and privacy by generating new addresses for each transaction.

The security of the entire wallet depends entirely on the secrecy and quality of the master seed. If the seed is compromised, all derived keys are also compromised.

Therefore, secure storage of the seed phrase is the most critical aspect of using a deterministic wallet. This design has greatly improved the usability of self-custody for average users.
