Deterministic Settlement Finality
Deterministic settlement finality describes the point in a blockchain network at which a transaction is considered irreversible and permanently recorded on the ledger. In traditional finance, settlement can take days due to clearinghouse reconciliation, but deterministic finality provides near-instant certainty in digital asset environments.
Once the consensus mechanism validates a block, the state of the contract is locked, and the transaction cannot be undone or altered. This provides a robust foundation for high-frequency trading and derivative settlement, as participants can rely on the immutability of the ledger to confirm ownership and value transfer.
It eliminates the ambiguity inherent in legacy financial settlement processes.
