DeFi Staking

DeFi staking involves locking cryptocurrency assets into a smart contract to support the security and operations of a blockchain network or a decentralized application. Participants who stake their tokens contribute to the consensus mechanism, such as Proof of Stake, which validates transactions and maintains the network.

In return for locking these assets, stakers receive rewards, often in the form of additional tokens or a share of network fees. This mechanism aligns the incentives of the token holders with the long-term health and security of the protocol.

The process often involves a bonding period where assets cannot be immediately withdrawn, requiring users to weigh the reward yield against liquidity constraints.
