## Data Availability Committees

Data Availability Committees (DACs) are groups of trusted entities that attest to the availability of data for a ZKP rollup. Instead of forcing every node to download the data, the network relies on the committee to sign off that the data is stored and accessible.

This approach significantly increases the throughput of the network, as it offloads the data storage burden from the main chain. However, it introduces a trust assumption, as users must rely on the honesty of the committee members.

In high-stakes derivatives trading, the reputation and economic incentives of the DAC are critical to preventing censorship or loss of funds. It is a common intermediate scaling solution.
