Cross-chain reconciliation is the specialized process of ensuring that assets moved between different blockchain networks are correctly accounted for and synchronized. When assets are bridged, they often exist as wrapped tokens on the destination chain.

Reconciliation involves verifying that the underlying collateral on the source chain matches the supply of the wrapped token on the destination chain. This is critical for maintaining the value peg of bridged assets.

Any discrepancy in this reconciliation can lead to de-pegging events and systemic risk. It requires robust technical monitoring of bridge contracts and collateral vaults.
