## Cash-and-Carry Strategy

The cash-and-carry strategy is a classic arbitrage trade involving the purchase of an asset in the spot market and the simultaneous sale of a futures contract for that same asset. The difference between the futures price and the spot price is known as the basis.

By holding both positions until the contract expires, the trader captures the basis as a guaranteed profit, regardless of market direction. In crypto, this strategy is widely used by funds to earn stable returns without exposure to price volatility.

The effectiveness of the trade depends on the cost of borrowing the spot asset and the margin requirements of the futures position. It is one of the most reliable ways to earn yield in the crypto space.
