## Break-Even Analysis

Break-even analysis is the process of calculating the price level at which a trade results in neither profit nor loss, after accounting for all costs. This includes entry and exit trading fees, slippage, and potential funding payments.

For a trader, knowing the break-even point is critical before entering any position. If the expected price move is less than the cost of the trade, the position is not viable.

Break-even analysis is especially important in high-frequency or high-leverage strategies where transaction costs can quickly erode capital. Traders use this analysis to set realistic take-profit and stop-loss levels.

It forces the trader to acknowledge the hidden costs of trading and prevents the assumption that any price movement in the right direction is a gain. A disciplined approach to break-even analysis is a hallmark of professional risk management.

It provides a clear objective for the minimum required movement of an asset.
