## BIP-39 Standards

BIP-39 is a Bitcoin Improvement Proposal that defines the standard for generating a mnemonic phrase from a set of entropy words. This standard ensures that wallets created on different devices can be recovered on others, provided they follow the same specification.

It creates a human-readable format for the 128 to 256 bits of entropy required to generate private keys. BIP-39 is the industry standard for seed phrase generation, providing a common language for wallet interoperability.

It also includes an optional passphrase feature, which adds an extra layer of security by acting as a 13th or 25th word. Users must understand that BIP-39 is not inherently secure if the mnemonic is exposed, making its management critical.

It is the bedrock of wallet recovery and cross-platform compatibility in the cryptocurrency space.
