Atomic Settlement
Atomic Settlement is a technical property where the transfer of assets between parties is guaranteed to either happen entirely or not at all. This is achieved through smart contracts that hold the assets in escrow and release them only when both sides of the trade have met the required conditions.
If one part of the transaction fails, the entire process is reverted, ensuring that no participant is left with an incomplete trade or partial asset loss. This eliminates settlement risk, which is the possibility that one party fails to deliver the promised asset after receiving payment.
