## Account Balance

The account balance is the total amount of settled funds available in a trading account. It consists of all deposits made by the trader minus any withdrawals, and includes realized profits or losses from closed positions.

It does not include the unrealized gains or losses from current open trades. The account balance is the baseline from which all margin calculations begin.

It represents the cash value of the account that is not currently at risk in the market. While it is an important metric, it is often less reflective of actual account health than the equity, which includes the impact of current market exposure.

A trader can have a large account balance but still be near liquidation if their open positions have significant unrealized losses. It is the static component of account value.
