Synthetix Incident

Architecture

The Synthetix incident refers to a critical pricing oracle failure that occurred in June 2019, exposing the fundamental design vulnerability within synthetic asset protocols. During this event, an incorrect price feed from an external provider led to extreme discrepancies in the valuation of the sKRW asset. This misalignment allowed arbitrageurs to extract significant value from the liquidity pools by exploiting the latency between centralized exchange pricing and the protocol oracle.
