State Channel Settlement

Mechanism

State channel settlement is a Layer 2 scaling solution that enables off-chain transactions and state updates between participants, with only the initial and final states recorded on the main blockchain. Participants open a channel by depositing collateral into a smart contract, then conduct an arbitrary number of transactions off-chain, cryptographically signing each update. Only when the channel is closed, or a dispute arises, is the final agreed-upon state broadcast to the main chain for settlement. This mechanism significantly reduces transaction load.
