SIFI Frameworks

Regulation

SIFI frameworks, or Systemically Important Financial Institution frameworks, are regulatory structures designed to identify and manage entities whose failure could pose a significant risk to the broader financial system. These frameworks impose stricter capital requirements, liquidity standards, and oversight on institutions deemed “too big to fail.” While traditionally applied to banks and insurance companies, the concept is increasingly relevant to large, interconnected DeFi protocols. The goal is to mitigate systemic risk by ensuring that critical financial infrastructure remains stable during periods of market stress.
