Sequencer Decentralization

Concept

Sequencer decentralization refers to the distribution of control over the transaction ordering and batching process within a Layer 2 rollup or similar scaling solution. Currently, many rollups rely on a single, centralized sequencer to aggregate transactions before submitting them to the Layer 1 blockchain. Decentralizing this role aims to remove single points of failure, enhance censorship resistance, and improve network security. It is a critical step towards true decentralization.
