Proof-of-Work Consensus

Consensus

Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus is a decentralized mechanism used to validate transactions and secure blockchain networks, requiring participants (miners) to expend computational effort to solve a cryptographic puzzle. The first miner to solve the puzzle adds a new block of transactions to the chain and is rewarded. This process ensures network security by making it computationally expensive for malicious actors to alter the blockchain history. It underpins the integrity of many foundational cryptocurrencies.
