Proof of Inclusion

Context

Proof of Inclusion (PoI) represents a cryptographic mechanism designed to verify the presence of data within a larger dataset, particularly relevant in decentralized systems and derivative markets. It contrasts with Proof of Existence, which merely confirms data integrity, by explicitly demonstrating that specific elements are included. Within cryptocurrency derivatives, PoI can validate the inclusion of collateral assets or trade instructions within a smart contract, enhancing transparency and auditability. This approach is gaining traction as a layer of assurance in complex financial instruments, especially those involving fractional reserve or synthetic assets.
