Priority Tip Mechanism

Mechanism

The priority tip mechanism is a design feature in blockchain transaction processing, particularly prevalent in Ethereum’s EIP-1559, where users explicitly include an additional fee, or “tip,” to incentivize miners or validators. This mechanism allows users to signal their willingness to pay for faster inclusion of their transactions into a block. It separates the base fee, which is burned, from the priority fee, which goes directly to the block producer. This creates a more predictable and efficient fee market. It optimizes transaction ordering.
