Oracle Slashing

Mechanism

Oracle slashing is a punitive mechanism in decentralized oracle networks where staked collateral from data providers or validators is partially or entirely forfeited if they act maliciously or fail to perform their duties. This mechanism is typically triggered by verifiable misbehavior, such as providing incorrect data, being offline, or attempting to manipulate feeds. The forfeited collateral is often burned or redistributed to honest participants, creating a strong economic disincentive for dishonesty. It is a core component of cryptoeconomic security.
