Misreported Collateral

Definition

Misreported collateral refers to the systemic inaccuracy where the recorded value or availability of pledged assets deviates from their actual market state within a decentralized finance or derivatives protocol. This discrepancy often arises from stale price feeds from oracles or latency in onchain verification processes during periods of extreme market volatility. When the reported valuation fails to mirror the real-time liquidity of the underlying crypto asset, the integrity of margin requirements and liquidation thresholds becomes compromised.
