Liquid Staking Token De-Pegging

Phenomenon

Liquid staking token de-pegging occurs when a liquid staking derivative (LSD), designed to maintain a 1:1 or near-1:1 peg with its underlying staked asset, deviates significantly from that peg. This deviation often arises from market imbalances, liquidity crises, or protocol-specific risks. The de-peg signifies a loss of confidence in the LSD’s redeemability or its underlying collateral. It can be triggered by large sales or redemption queues.
