Latency Pricing

Mechanism

Latency pricing refers to the technical arrangement where the execution cost of a trade or the quotation of a derivative asset is dynamically adjusted based on the speed of information arrival. Within high-frequency crypto markets, liquidity providers employ this method to compensate for the risk of stale prices being exploited by faster participants. By embedding a delay penalty into the order book, venues can effectively neutralize the advantage held by co-located actors or those utilizing superior network routing.
