Hybrid CLOB-AMM

Architecture

A Hybrid CLOB-AMM integrates the benefits of traditional Central Limit Order Books (CLOBs) with Automated Market Makers (AMMs), representing a nuanced approach to liquidity provision within cryptocurrency exchanges. This design aims to mitigate the inherent limitations of each system individually, specifically addressing CLOB’s liquidity fragmentation and AMM’s susceptibility to impermanent loss. The resulting architecture often employs a priority-based order matching system alongside liquidity pools, dynamically adjusting weighting based on market conditions and order flow. Consequently, this hybrid model seeks to optimize price discovery and execution efficiency, particularly for less liquid assets or volatile trading environments.
