Front-Run

Mechanism

Front-running is a predatory trading practice where an entity with foreknowledge of an impending transaction executes its own trade ahead of it to profit from the anticipated price movement. In traditional finance, this often involves brokers or market makers using insider information. For cryptocurrency, front-running is prevalent in decentralized exchanges where transaction order can be manipulated by miners or validators observing pending transactions in the mempool. This mechanism exploits information asymmetry.
