Early Security Analysis

Analysis

Early security analysis, within the context of cryptocurrency and derivatives, initially focused on fundamental valuation techniques adapted from traditional finance, assessing intrinsic value based on projected cash flows or network effects. This approach, however, quickly encountered challenges due to the nascent nature of these markets and the difficulty in establishing reliable valuation models for novel assets. Consequently, early efforts prioritized identifying mispricings relative to perceived value, often leveraging on-chain data and network activity as proxies for fundamental strength, and recognizing the importance of understanding the underlying technology and its potential for disruption. The initial phase of analysis also heavily relied on comparative assessments, benchmarking crypto assets against established financial instruments and identifying potential arbitrage opportunities.
