Digital Derivatives

Definition

Digital derivatives are financial contracts whose value is derived from an underlying digital asset, such as a cryptocurrency, or an index of such assets. These instruments include futures, options, perpetual swaps, and synthetic assets, traded on both centralized and decentralized platforms. They allow market participants to speculate on price movements or hedge existing positions without directly owning the underlying asset. The contracts are often executed and settled via smart contracts. This provides exposure to digital assets with varied risk profiles.
