Cross-Chain Risk Contagion

Contagion

Cross-chain risk contagion describes the phenomenon where a failure or negative event on one blockchain network triggers cascading losses across other interconnected chains. This risk arises from the increasing interoperability between different protocols and ecosystems, where assets are bridged or derivatives are collateralized across multiple platforms. A significant liquidity crisis or smart contract exploit on one chain can rapidly deplete collateral pools on another, creating systemic instability.
