Collateral Recycling

Leverage

Collateral recycling refers to the practice of using assets deposited as collateral in one decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol to borrow additional assets, which are then used as collateral in another protocol to increase leverage. This process allows traders to amplify their exposure to underlying assets or derivatives positions far beyond their initial capital outlay. The recursive nature of this strategy creates a complex web of dependencies across multiple protocols, significantly increasing the potential for both profit and loss.
