Aggregated Layers

Architecture

Aggregated layers, within cryptocurrency and derivatives, represent a tiered system for order execution and liquidity provision, often employed by centralized exchanges and increasingly by decentralized exchanges through layer-2 solutions. This structure aims to enhance throughput and reduce latency by distributing processing across multiple components, effectively scaling transaction capacity beyond the limitations of a single order book. The design frequently incorporates components like matching engines, risk management modules, and connectivity interfaces, each operating as a distinct layer within the overall system. Consequently, this layered approach facilitates more complex order types and trading strategies, while simultaneously improving system resilience and fault tolerance.
